However, Woody Payne hit a three to finish off an 8-0 run that put Detroit ahead 16-15 near the midway point. Both teams exchanged the lead for the next several minutes and with things tied at 24-all with just under a minute remaining, the Bulldogs scored six of the final eight points to close the half. Avery Jukes beat the buzzer with a layup to put Butler in front 30-26 heading into the locker room. In the second half, Shawn Vanzant's trey gave the Bulldogs a 41-35 edge with about 13 minutes to play, but Simon answered from beyond the arc a short time later to make it a one-point game, 41-40. Things stayed close for the duration of the contest, but Butler never relinquished the lead. Nored's two free throws coupled with a layup put Butler up 57-50 with 2:58 remaining and the Bulldogs would hold on down the stretch. Game Notes Butler won the first meeting between these teams back on January 10, a 64-62 overtime decision and improved to 40-28 in the all-time series...Butler finished 46.8 percent from the field, but made only 2-of-13 from three-point range. Detroit finished 39.6 percent from the floor and hit 4-of-12 from beyond the arc.
