Alex Avila lined into a double play with two on in the second and Ordonez grounded with an inning-ending force out with runners on the corners in the third. Miguel Cabrera was stranded after a leadoff double in the fourth, Adam Everett flew out to right with runners on the corners in the seventh, and Kevin Jepsen retired Carlos Guillen on a groundout with the tying runs in scoring position in the eighth. Game Notes Pineiro improved to 7-2 lifetime versus Detroit...Mathis now has a 10-game hitting streak..Every Tiger but Avila and Everett recorded a hit, but the team grounded into two double plays and tallied just one extra-base hit...Pineiro lowered his earned run average to 1.77.
