Garnett, Timberwolves down Clippers
Basketball Betting Lines
11/26/2006 -
Minneapolis, MN (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Kevin Garnett poured in 25 points and
rookie Randy Foye helped key a late 15-0 run in the fourth quarter to lift
Minnesota past the Los Angeles Clippers, 104-96.
Garnett also pulled down 10 rebounds and Foye scored 14 of his 15 points in
the final quarter for the Timberwolves, who won three games in a row for the
first time this season.
Ricky Davis finished with 14 points and seven assists while Mark Blount added
13 points for Minnesota, which outscored LA 35-15 in the fourth quarter.
Sam Cassell scored a game-high 31 points to go along with eight assists for
the Clippers, who have yet to win a game on the road this season (0-4). Elton
Brand had 21 points and 10 boards and Corey Maggette scored 18 points off the
bench.
After Cassell's three pointer put the Clippers up 94-85 with just over five
minutes left to play, Foye and Marko Jaric drained back-to-back treys and the
Timberwolves were off and running.
Garnett then made 1-of-2 free throws and Blount's jumper tied the game at
94-94 with 3:18 remaining.
Then, after a Maggette turnover, Blount found Garnett down low for a layup
that gave Minnesota its first lead of the game with 2:46 left to play.
Garnett then rejected Brand and Blount knocked down two free throws to give
the Timberwolves a four-point lead. Garnett then pulled down a rebound off
Maggette's failed jumper and Jaric made two from the charity stripe to give
Minnesota a 100-94 lead with 1:14 left to play.
Mobley's layup finally stopped the bleeding for the Clippers, but Foye
answered with a driving layup before putting an exclamation mark on the game
with a dunk as time expired.
Led by 12 points from Cassell, the Clippers jumped out to a 26-17 lead after
the first quarter. LA outscored Minnesota 31-30 in the second quarter and took
57-47 lead into the break.
The Clippers held the Timberwolves at bay in the third quarter and took a
81-69 lead into the final period.

NFL Football Betting Online
In terms of sports wagering, the NFL is "the most popular game in town." The explanation behind that is easy.
It is called the "pointspread."
Many years ago, NFL games, as well as the more popular college games, used straight odds as a vehicle for betting. For example, if the Bears were playing the Giants, and it shaped up as a competitive contest, the Bears might be, say, a 7/5 favorite. If they were playing an also-ran, it might be 10/1. Well, there is a point where a line becomes prohibitive, as far as betting the favorite. And who would waste money betting an underdog that has virtually no chance? Such a setup did not contribute to promoting betting action.
But in modern sports betting, a "pointspread" is used.
A NFL pointspreads are exactly that, a pre-established point difference between the two sides that will, for all intents and purposes, create a handicap that evens things out, and in doing so, produces comparable wagering activity on both sides of that proposition. So in lieu of a odds figure in which to bet the team to win outright, the Bears might be a three-point favorite over the New York Giants, and a 17-point favorite over the also-ran. Now that the team that is the underdog can "get" points, there can be equal action on both sides.
In sportsbooks, this is usually done with efficiency by charging the losing bettors 10% extra - in effect, bettors are laying 11/10 on those games. So they are actually betting $110 to win $100. If they lose, they pay the "vig." If they win, they simply collect.
The establishment of the pointspread as the corner stone around which team sports like football can be wagered upon was truly what brought gridiron betting into the stratosphere for online football betting .
