Sixers use bench to beat Hornets for third straight win

02/05/2010 - New Orleans, LA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Thaddeus Young scored a team-high 19 points off the bench, as the Philadelphia 76ers picked up a season-high third consecutive win with a 101-94 decision over the New Orleans Hornets.

Andre Iguodala finished with 14 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for the Sixers, who got a strong effort from their bench. In addition to Young, Rodney Carney had 13 points while Lou Williams ended with 11 points and five assists.

Samuel Dalembert hauled in 16 boards to go with seven points for Philadelphia, which hadn't beaten the Hornets in New Orleans since January 2004.

Peja Stojakovic had 23 points to pace the Hornets, who lost their third in a row. Darren Collison ended with 17 points and four assists in the setback.

The Sixers led 25-23 after a tight first quarter, and started to build an advantage in the second.

With the Hornets leading by two, Philadelphia went on a 16-3 run that Dalembert closed with two foul shots for a 51-40 edge with just under three minutes left.

The Sixers took a 56-47 lead into the break, and continued to play in front for the duration of the third quarter. However, the Hornets stayed close and were within 76-70 moving to the fourth.

Iguodala's three-point play with 7:52 left followed two Williams foul shots, putting the Sixers up 84-73.

The Hornets battled back within two possessions, drawing within six on Stojakovic's three free throws with 1:11 on the clock. But Willie Green hit four foul shots in the final minute to secure the win.

Game Notes

Green ended with 12 points for the Sixers, while Elton Brand had 11 points...James Posey had 10 boards, eight points and six assists for the Hornets, while David West contributed 11 points and eight rebounds.
