ess "will move quickly." The network also reported that the Chicago Bulls have also expressed interest in Collins to take over for the fired Vinny Del Negro. The 58-year-old Collins coached the Bulls (1986-89), Detroit Pistons (1995-98) and Washington Wizards (2001-03) and has a career mark of 332-287. His teams have been to the playoffs five times, going as far as the conference finals with the Bulls in the 1988-89 season. He was then replaced by his assistant, Phil Jackson. Collins spent his e

fortune and personification. Fortuna evidently wasn't a big fan of NBA teams along the I-95 corridor last year. From the nation's capital all the way up to Madison Square Garden, a wretched brand of basketball was being played. In fact the Washington Wizards, Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Nets and New York Knicks combined for 94 wins and an astounding 234 losses. The worm may have turned for at least two of those teams on Tuesday, when the Wizards and Sixers jumped up in the NBA's annual Draft
After turbulent year, lottery luck for the Wizards Wed May 19 03:33:00 2010 EST

SECAUCUS, N.J. (AP) -Nothing like a little lottery luck to restore hope after a season gone horribly wrong.

The Washington Wizards, terrible on the court and troublemakers off it, finally had something go their way Tuesday night when they won the NBA's draft lottery.

``We deserved a break, the fans deserved a break and I just had a good vibe,'' incoming owner Ted Leonsis said. ``I just said if ever a franchise deserved some good luck, it's this because last year was an incredibly tough ye

Secaucus, NJ (Sports Network) - The Washington Wizards captured the top pick in the 2010 NBA Draft after winning the draft lottery held Tuesday night. The Wizards, represented by late Wizards owner Abe Pollin's wife, had the fifth best odds, but leaped into a position to likely select Kentucky freshman sensation John Wall. The Philadelphia 76ers made a big move into the second position, in a spot to claim a solid consolation prize, National Player of the Year Evan Turner, the do-everything poin

Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas on Friday morning reportedly left the halfway house where he was confined as part of his sentencing for a felony gun charge. Arenas was sentenced to 30 days in the halfway house, and The Washington Post reported that he left at 7 a.m. and returned home. GREAT FALLS, Va. (AP) -Gilbert Arenas arrived home from a halfway house Friday morning, having completed one part of his punishment for bringing guns into the Washington Wizards locker room.

Arenas drove up to his house in the Virginia suburbs of Washington in a tan Mercedes SUV at about 8:30 a.m.

He tried several times to punch the combination on the keypad to enter his gated driveway. After several failed attempts, he muttered ``Alrighty,'' got out of his car and yelled toward the house

Wizards' sale to Leonsis nears completion Tue Apr 27 17:34:52 2010 EST
Arlington, VA (Sports Network) - The family of late Washington Wizards owner Abe Pollin has agreed to economic terms to sell its share of the team to Ted Leonsis, the owner of the NHL's Washington Capitals and WNBA's Washington Mystics. "We join our mother Irene, the sole principal owner of the franchise today, in congratulating Ted Leonsis and his Lincoln Holdings partners on reaching this near-final step in a long negotiation," said Robert and James Pollin, Abe Pollin's sons. Wizards, again, end season with Arenas questions Thu Apr 15 14:13:00 2010 EST

WASHINGTON (AP) -After the Washington Wizards' season finale, Gilbert Arenas' locker sat virtually empty. It contained two shirts, a couple of pieces of paper and a pink athletics band used to stretch and rehab muscles.

The four guns that caused so much trouble were long gone, and the former occupant was spending the night in a halfway house.

And while Andray Blatche, the undisputed go-to star of the team - an honor he won totally by default - held court with reporters in the center of th

dan's coaching career. He has two years and $6 million left on his contract with the Sixers. "They judged the team from their performance last year and the personnel lost. Obviously the personnel changed, maybe, maybe expectations should change, maybe," Jordan said after Wednesday's game. The former Sacramento Kings (1996-98) and Washington Wizards (2003-08) coach has a career record of 257-343, though Jordan's second season with the Wizards saw a 20-game improvement from the previous campaign.
